Professor Simon Fishel studied with Nobel Prize winner Robert Edwards, who was part of the team that gave birth to Louise Brown, the world's first IVF baby, in 1978. He has been engaged in the field of assisted reproduction for more than 40 years, and has made many breakthrough research achievements, such as demonstrating human chorionic gonadotropin for the first time and describing the potential benefits of drug in external fertilization and stem cell technology.
He has published more than 200 academic papers and written many books. In 1978, he won the Bate Memorial Scholarship for Medical Research. In 1987, he introduced IVF technology to China as a member of the World Health Organization. He has received honorary awards from Japan, South Africa, Austria and Italy, and has advised many governments such as Vatican. In the September 2013, in the magazine of ‘Women's Health and Harmony’, he was named the 10th of "100 Hottest Health Masters".
