Dr. Pallav Shah qualified in respiratory medicine at the Royal Brompton Hospital, St Mary’s Hospital (part of Imperial College Healthcare) and Chelsea and Westminster Hospital. He has worked at Royal Brompton Hospital for 20 years. He specialises in diagnosing and treating all aspects of respiratory disease such as: chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), chronic bronchitis, emphysema, asthma and lung cancer.
Dr. Pallav Shah has pioneered a number of novel procedures for treating lung diseases, for example: bronchial thermoplasty to treat asthma, vapour therapy, diathermy (using heat) and cryotherapy (using low temperatures). He has published over 200 papers and several books. He has authored and been sectional editor for important textbooks such as Gray’s Anatomy and the Oxford Textbook of Medicine. He is a specialist adviser to the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) and a member of the Commission on Human Medicines.
